Company Management

Jerrell Jimerson, CEO

Jerrell Jimerson brings his deep understanding of consumers, technology, and the web to create a new music experience built entirely around the user. One that is more accessible, easier to use, open to the web, and that has the potential to build a community of passionate users, developers, and partners.

From his earliest days as an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, where he worked as a student rep for Apple, Jerrell Jimerson has understood the transformational power of technology. Joining Apple after Cal, Jerrell worked in product marketing where he saw first hand the elements that were required to build a great company: great people, innovative technology, passionate users.

At Netscape Jerrell served as VP in charge of online content and programming. After Netscape’s acquisition by AOL, Jerrell led the online broadband efforts at Yahoo!, bringing a range of rich media experiences to consumers around the world.

When he’s not leading Songbird, you can spot Jerrell at the Greek Theater for Macy Gray, riding down the coast on the California AIDS ride (catching Tracy Chapman in camp!), and watching the Black Eyed Peas or Kayne West videos with his son.

Ethan Bauman, Director of Business Development

Ethan Bauman has spent more than a decade pairing cutting-edge music and video experiences with sustainable business models. Over that time he’s launched download stores, internet radio stations, recommendation services, information portals, and desktop media players.

At MSN Music, Ethan managed product planning and business development, where he negotiated multi-million dollar deals, established one of the first cash flow positive internet radio businesses and worked on MSN’s music and video monetization strategies.

After MSN, Ethan incubated a portable media player start-up and advised venture capital firms on digital music investments.

Ethan is passionate about using the Songbird platform to bring fresh media experiences to music and video lovers on the PC, in the living room and on the go. As Director of Business Development, Ethan is building partnerships with media services providers, device makers and carriers looking to improve their consumer experiences and drive monetization.

When not on a conference call, Ethan can be found listening to the Hype Machine’s “popular” page, introducing his son to Bob Marley, searching for a roast chicken that beats Zuni Café, or convincing his wife that the family really does need to buy more wine.

Georges Auberger, Vice President of Engineering

A self-defined geek, Georges Auberger comes to Songbird with 15 years of experience delivering innovative consumer software products, services, and open source projects for social communities. Georges’ background in online social games, sharing video on the web and mobile phones, and developing the architecture for a range of client server technologies, perfectly positions Songbird to take advantage of the next generation of the digital media experience.

Prior to joining Songbird, Georges lead the engineering effort at social games company Digital Chocolate, where he defined the architecture for networked mobile games that shipped on up to 500 devices for over 200 channels worldwide.

When not behind a computer, Georges can be found cycling the roads of Northern California, shredding in the Sierras, or practicing his aspiring (and perspiring) culinary technique in front of a hot stove. On his playlist Georges mixes it up with songs from the French chanteuse and first lady Carla Bruni, Raphaël, and Pascal Obispo, the French pop superstar. Who knew one of the most influential members of the open source software movement had such a sensitive side?
